Virtual try-on technology has significantly evolved in recent years, moving beyond simple 2D representations to more immersive 3D experiences. OmniFit-3D is an innovative step forward towards a unified framework for 3D virtual try-on that achieves pose-adaptive realism with minimal input requirements and faster execution.
Traditional 3D virtual try-on solutions typically require extensive 3D annotations, specialized human shape models, and detailed garment templates, making them impractical for widespread commercial adoption. Meanwhile, 2D approaches, while faster and more accessible, lack the rich, realistic representation that truly showcases how clothing drapes and fits on a human body. OmniFit-3D bridges this gap by leveraging the strengths of both approaches. This framework requires only two simple inputs: a standard 2D image of a person and the target clothing item they wish to try on. From these minimal inputs, OmniFit-3D produces a complete 3D representation of the person wearing the selected garment.
What makes OmniFit-3D unique is the unified network strategy that processes the virtual
try-on in sequential, interconnected steps:
First, we perform intelligent depth estimation from the monocular image while simultaneously
executing a specialized two-stage warping procedure to align the target clothing with the
person’s body shape and pose. Next, our system enhances the initial representation by
refining depth characteristics, paying particular attention to realistic fabric behavior
such as pleats and wrinkles, while preserving detailed facial features. Finally, we employ
an advanced texture fusion process that seamlessly integrates the aligned clothing with the
person’s body, creating a cohesive and realistic final output.
OmniFit-3D stands out by efficiently lifting 2D information into the 3D domain, creating a complete 3D mesh that can be viewed from multiple angles. This offers online shoppers an intuitive and realistic view of how clothing will actually look on them, potentially reducing return rates and increasing customer satisfaction. Extensive experiments demonstrate that OmniFit-3D not only produces visually compelling results with detailed garment-body interactions but also does so more efficiently than existing 3D approaches, executable on consumer laptop CPU.
With OmniFit-3D, we are taking a significant step toward making virtual try-on technology more accessible and practical for real-world e-commerce applications. By eliminating the need for extensive 3D annotations while still providing rich 3D outputs, we are bringing the virtual fitting room experience closer to reality for everyday shoppers. As we continue to refine this technology, we envision a future where trying clothes online becomes as informative and confidence-inspiring as trying them in a physical store – if not more so.
